The second generation Toyota Vios was first unveiled in Malaysia on October 5, 2007 in Kuala Lumpur, two weeks ahead of its official launch on October 19, 2007.
The car, like its predecessors, is powered by a 1NZ-FE 1.5 litre four-pot engine with VVT-i but includes redesigns on the air intake and exhaust system to improve low to mid-range torque. While the gear ratios of Toyota Vios is unchanged, its transmission is now a Super ECT four-speed automatic and improved programming for the transmission control unit. Electric power steering was also included on the new Toyota Vios.
